Gamma spectrometry

Many years ago I became fascinated by the topic of gamma spectroscopy. My first foray into this area was the restoration of a classic Siemens single channel gamma spectrometer from the late 1950s. Click on the picture to read about this restoration project.

My next project was to build a multi channel gamma spectrometer from scratch using an Arduino Mega 2560 for data collection, control of a small display, and communication with an attached computer. Click on the picture to go to the github project with detailed information on this build.

In 2022 I got a professional ADC for gamma spectrometry which was a great addition to my growing setup of NIM modules. However, these ADCs have proprietary interfaces so it took me a while to figure out how the interface actually works. Clicking on the picture will bring you to the corresponding github project, where a detailed description of the Arduino based interface and the associated software can be found.
